Lingerie isn’t always about sex

Currently I am camped out on the couch in the living room with my laptop feeling rather crummy. I’m eating a bowl of straight up comfort food under a fuzzy pink blanket.

What I’m wearing though? Fishnets and a soft, pretty cotton dress. The same fishnets in these photos I took this morning before I put my dress on.

It may seem silly or even unbelievable for some that I feel more comfortable dressed in lingerie than I would if I was in sweatpants and an old hoodie. But it’s true. It’s not because of my dynamic, no one is asking or requiring me to dress this way, it just genuinely makes me feel better.

The texture and constraint of the fishnets is comforting to me when I don’t feel well — like a security blanket. I can feel the soft blanket through them in a different way than if I was sporting bare legs and that feeling is enough to help put my brain in a more relaxed state. I’m not fixing my hair, or putting on makeup or shooting any grand shoots today, I’m just going to rest, do some self-care and lay around in some sexy ass lingerie until I feel better.

Lingerie isn’t always about sex, and it isn’t always about someone else. For me, it’s another tool to utilize in my self-care toolbox.
